PROJECT

(STATEMENT)

What does the experience of dining with others bring to us?

The Dinner Party was an experience based installation project with the goal of manifesting a connection, whether it be between people, objects, or memories.

For this project in specific, it was to foster a connection between humans and food by recreating the experience of dining with others. The audiences who attended the installation were seated and served as if at a regular restaurant but with no physical food, only theoretical ideas of dishes from a carefully curated menu. Each course is described by flavors and texture to stimulate the audience’s imaginations and knowledge of the ingredients, allowing them to rethink the way we interact with food.

Another aspect of this project was to observe dining etiquettes and how different backgrounds and cultures could have an effect on the way different people would dine and eat.
